Chapter 6 Jamarion glanced at her. "I'm not looking for a maid." "Then how can I repay you?" "You really want to repay me?" "Yes, for sure." Jamarion smiled knowingly. *** Now, looking at Brylee curled up again, Jamarion, after raising her for four years and knowing her so well, could easily guess her motive for returning to the Rainbow Bridge. The Rainbow Bridge was where they had first met. Brylee asking Lucian to send her here was nothing more than her wish to return to the beginning, before she had ever known him. Jamarion's lips curled, but the smile was tinged with bitterness. "Do you regret ever meeting me?" Brylee gave no reply. Her wounds had torn open again after the chase, staining the back of her dress crimson. She struggled to suppress the agony. Jamarion reached out, wanting to touch her head, but she tilted away, dodging his hand. A barely audible sigh escaped his lips. "Brylee, I'll make it up to you from now on." Just then, his phone rang. He answered, and Kyson O'Neal's anxious voice came through. "Jamarion, come quickly. Kiki just found out that Brylee went missing. She was quite emotional now, and the doctor said her condition is relapsing. Hurry, she only listens to you." Jamarion hung up, panic flashing in his eyes, his worry for Kylee undeniable. "Brylee, your sister just had surgery. She can't handle emotional upheavals. I have to go see her. Stop making trouble and go home with me." He stood up and ordered his assistant, "Take her home." He failed to notice that something was terribly wrong with Brylee. She was collapsing. Jamarion drove off in his Phantom, leaving her behind. In less than half an hour, he arrived at the hospital and showed up in Kylee's ward. "Jamarion, does Brylee hate me for taking one of her kidneys? Otherwise, why would she run away from home?" Kylee cried bitterly in his arms. Patting her trembling back, Jamarion comforted her, "Kiki, don't overthink. That kidney was something Bry gave you willingly. You don't need to blame yourself." "Does she also resent you for marrying her, yet giving your love to her sister instead?" A wave of impatience rippled through Jamarion's heart, and he forced a reply that wasn't entirely true. "She's someone easily satisfied. Once she enjoys the perks of being Mrs. Galvan, she won't care about what she's lost." "Then it must be because you've been spending too much time with me lately, neglecting her. She's just acting out," Kylee said, still crying. Watching his beautiful daughter, Kyson's heart ached, and he grew furious with Brylee. "Bry is far too immature. Kiki just fought her way back from death, and she's making trouble, worrying her sick like this. How could she?" Jamarion gave Kyson a quiet look. "Don't forget, she also just had surgery. This is the only time she's been willful. Let her be." Kyson froze, shame flashing briefly in his eyes, before he forced a laugh. "She's tough. She'll be fine." Jamarion shot him a sharp glare, and Kyson shut his mouth in embarrassment. Kylee clutched Jamarion's hand, her eyes red. "Jamarion, don't you think our relationship is too complicated? This time you took Bry's kidney for me. She may not say it, but she must be deeply hurt. Otherwise, why would she be acting out? Jamarion, why don't you divorce her? You never loved her anyway. You love me. Let's marry, and then we'll make it up to her. Okay?" Jamarion subtly pushed her away. "Kiki, I won't divorce Bry. Her health is fragile now. I have to take care of her for life. I have no right to abandon her." Kylee felt as though a bucket of ice water had been poured over her. Sniffling, she asked, "Jamarion, you've conquered the business world with ruthless skill. You've wronged thousands. Why, when it comes to Brylee, must you cling to promises?"
