Chapter 7 Keep Yapping and I'll Smash Your Face Mandy poured a glass of water and brought it to Jade, holding it out. Just as Jade reached for it, Mandy pulled it back with a grin-then tilted her head and drank the entire glass herself, placing the empty cup back in front of her. Jade's face twisted in rage. "Mandy! What are you doing?!" Mandy smirked, her smile tinged with mockery. "It's just water. Not a big deal. But why should I pour it for you? Who are you to me?" "I'm your mother!" Jade shouted. "Heh..." Mandy laughed even harder, the contempt in her voice unmistakable. "Wasn't it you just now who said you'd never acknowledge me as your daughter? Ms. Zhang, don't tell me you've already forgotten?" It hit Jade like a bolt of lightning. She stared at Mandy with wide, shaken eyes. She had assumed Mandy just wanted to steal Yvonne's things-but now, it was clear this ran far deeper. "Mandy, what do you want from us? What's your goal?!" Mandy didn't bother hiding anything. Calm and cold, she spoke plainly. "Nothing much. Just here to collect a debt." Debt? Jade's face went pale. A faint chill crept up her spine as she looked at Mandy, a trace of fear surfacing. So long as Mandy was around, the Tate family would never know peace. There were four sons and one daughter in the Tate family. The house was big, but the good rooms were all taken. Mandy insisted on having Yvonne's room. After searching every option, Sally managed to free up a room that was only a third the size of Yvonne's. It was so cramped, the bed barely fit, and the rest of Yvonne's belongings were stuffed in awkward piles. Sally clucked her tongue in sympathy. "Ms. Yvonne, this room's so tiny... it's such a shame to put you here." Shame? Yvonne had never been this humiliated in her life. She was fuming. "As long as Mom and Dad are still on my side, it doesn't matter. Sally, does your face still hurt from when Mandy hit you last time?" "Thank you for your concern, Ms. Yvonne. I'm fine now. I'm just a servant-being mistreated is part of the job. But seeing you get bullied by Mandy... even a lowly maid like me can't stand it." Mandy's behavior had already stirred resentment throughout the house, and Yvonne knew it. "Sally, if Mandy agrees to break off the engagement, then everything I've suffered will be worth it." "Don't worry, Ms. Yvonne. I'll keep speaking to Madam about it. We'll get Mandy to break off the engagement soon. You won't be wronged for long." "Sally, you're so kind to me." "I watched you grow up, Ms. Yvonne. Of course I care about you being bullied." ... As the sun set, Sally returned to the living room and said to Mandy, "Your room's ready." Mandy nodded, lounging lazily on the sofa with her laptop. With John and Jade present, Sally decided it was time to reassert her authority. "It's getting late. Dinner's still yours to cook. Madam and Sir are used to your food." Mandy shot her a cold glance. She caught the glint of scheming in Sally's eyes. Even now, they still thought they could treat her like a maid. This Sally woman just never learned. Always pushing buttons. John and Jade, sitting nearby, didn't even flinch. They clearly expected her to obey. Looks like it was time for a lesson. Mandy stood up, walked right over, and without a word-smack! -slapped Sally square across the face. "Ah!" Sally let out a scream and flew backward several meters, crashing to the ground. Her face swelled instantly, and she spat out a mouthful of blood. "Sally!" Yvonne bolted down the stairs, rushing to her side. John and Jade were stunned, scrambling after her. One glance-and they were horrified. That slap hadn't just been loud. It had been brutal. Could a nineteen-year-old girl really have that kind of strength? Even Mandy herself blinked, only now recalling what Mr. Ibis had said-combat strength increased by one thousand percent. That was her holding back . If she'd used her full strength, Sally might've died on the spot. Killing felt great in the moment, but in hell? Torture lasted forever. She'd seen what that looked like. And even she was afraid of it. Sensing the fear in their eyes, Mandy calmly issued her warning. "Listen up. Anyone in this house who tries to order me around will end up just like Sally." Yvonne burst into tears. "Mom! She's seriously hurt! We need to get her to the hospital!" "I'll get the car!" John shouted. "Help her out slowly-carefully!" The whole family scrambled to get Sally medical attention. Mandy, meanwhile, grabbed a tissue and wiped her hands, unbothered. Back in the underworld, she'd carved up countless ghost kidneys. She'd get blood everywhere, and wiping her hands had become second nature. Once the family left, she strolled into the kitchen, grabbed lobster and sea cucumber, cooked herself dinner, wiped her mouth, and left the mess. Then she took a hot bath and went to bed. Slept like a baby. At the hospital, the doctor's expression was grim. "Facial bone fracture, mild concussion, and minor internal bleeding. We'll monitor her-surgery might not be necessary if the condition improves." The three Tates looked mortified. John asked, "Doctor, are you saying one slap could really cause all that?" "With enough force, yes," the doctor replied. "Though you'd only find that kind of strength in one out of ten thousand people." ... A delicate nineteen-year-old girl with that kind of power? It defied belief. Jade, shaken, whispered, "Dear, she's not the same. Mandy's like a completely different person. What if she's gone mad? How are we supposed to live with her?" "Yeah, Dad," Yvonne added, eyes wide with fear. "She's terrifying. What if I say the wrong thing and she hits me next?" The old Mandy had been soft, obedient, easy to control. But now, it was like she'd snapped overnight. John rubbed his temples, trying to make sense of it all. "For now, just try not to provoke her. Something's clearly wrong. We'll take her to a doctor tomorrow and figure out what's going on." Yvonne gasped. "Dad... are you saying Mandy has gone insane?"
