Chapter 5 Lena's POV "The Luna from the bloodmoon pack next door just had a small scrape on her arm. Alpha Blake had you perform a skin graft on her." The nurse sighed. "It's all about fate, isn't it? Luna just gets a scratch, and the Alpha's heartbroken, but us? We're nothing like that." My face went pale, my heart twisting with pain. My lips trembled, as though I had just swallowed fire. My eyes misted over. "Could you... please help me transfer to another hospital?" "Transfer? What do you mean?" Blake pushed the door open and strode in, carrying a large bag of supplements and all my favorite foods. He took off his coat, helping me wash my hands and feet. Then he cut the fruit and fed me. He even prepared the most delicious nutritional meals, following the recipe to the letter, trying over ten times to perfect each one. "Babe, eat up and get better soon." He carefully scooped a spoonful of chicken soup, blowing on it until it cooled just right before bringing it to my lips. It was thoughtful, considerate, and gentle, just like it always was. But as I watched all of it, my heart grew colder with each passing day. Because I knew Blake's love had already changed. He would feed Kendra the best-tasting portions of every nutritional meal. He'd press his ear to Kendra's belly again and again, eyes lighting up in anticipation. "In a few months, we'll feel the baby move." He would wait until I had fallen asleep, then sneak into the room to be with Kendra, their bodies marked with traces of their intimacy. He would introduce Kendra to everyone. "This is my Luna. She's pregnant, and the pack will soon have an heir." I just quietly watched it all, neither crying nor making a scene. Sometimes, when you really wanted to leave, even saying goodbye felt pointless. The harsh winter wind blew, scattering leaves in every direction. I would occasionally call a rogue who moved among the packs. He was handling the paperwork for leaving the werewolf realm. I did it when Blake and Kendra were together, just to check on the progress. On the day I was discharged, he finally had someone deliver a message to me. "Lena, your paperwork should be completed by tomorrow morning." I let out a relieved breath, a smile of release spreading across my face. Blake's hand paused in midair as he helped Kendra. His gaze, however, fell on me. My smile still looked as beautiful as it did five years ago, like nothing had changed. But if he looked closely, he'd notice the lines of worry on my forehead. Something stirred in his chest, an emotion he couldn't quite place. He instinctively pulled me into his arms. "Honey, smile. I'll always be here." I subtly pulled away from his touch, giving him a faint smile. "I'm fine." Blake pressed a kiss to my forehead, hiding the unease I could see in his eyes. "Alright, let's head back to the pack house." On the drive home, Blake's gaze remained fixed on me. He was about to reach out to take my hand when suddenly Kendra screamed, "Watch out!" "Boom!" A violent crash shook the car. A black SUV flipped us onto the ground in an instant!
