Chapter 47 Lucas and I help them up and I pick up the one that is passed out. They all stay near me and try to avoid Lucas. I can understand why. Men just did something terrible to them. Once we walk for about 15 minutes the children start to get grumpy. I take one of them and put them on my shoulders. The other one who isn't scared of Lucas asks him to ride on his shoulders too. Lucas obliges and puts the boy on his shoulders wincing a little in the process. "Where are we going?" Lucas's voice sounds in my head. "A safe rogue camp." I answer back and I see the skepticism in his eyes, but he doesn't say anything. After another 45 minutes we reached the camp. We walk up with the girls hiding behind us. There are two guards at the door and they nod to me as we walk in. I am the one who set this all up. After reaching the small building for women and children I drop them off to get changed. "I will be back to check on you." I tell the women and they nod. Lucas and I walk out the door and start to walk down to the Alpha's house. "What is this place?" Lucas asks looking all around amazed. "The Rogue Pack." I answer him and he stops before continuing to follow me. "Pack?" He asks and I nod. "I found a Rogue Beta one night. He was banned from his pack because the Alpha felt threatened by him. He is the Alpha here. Alpha Jorian. There are over 300 people who live here and they have everything they need." I answer him and he nods his head taking it all in. "Luz de la luna!" I hear a man yell toward me. Well that nickname is new. I turn to see that it is the Alpha that I was just talking about. He is in his fifties, but still has his thick blond hair. Our hair doesn't start turning gray till we reach 100. A small crowd gathers near me and Lucas and starts to talk over one another. "Everyone back off!" The Alpha booms. "We have guests here and we don't want to scare them away now do we?" He asks the crowd of people and they all answer "No Alpha." They say in unison. "Let's go to the house. Shall we?" He asks as he leads the way to his house. After we enter the simple home I see his mate come up and bows her neck to me in a sign of respect. She has tea setting out at a small table they have and we all take a seat. "What brings you here, ligera?" He asks. I feel Fen's chest puff out at the name, that's new too. Ligera, or light. "My apprentice and I brought 3 women and 4 children in. I figured I would introduce you, so if he comes by there won't be a problem." I mindlink him. I don't actually talk to people and they still don't see my face. Through mindlink my voice is different. It is rougher because it is Fen's. "Oh I see. You finally got yourself an apprentice?" Alpha says and looks towards Lucas. "Where are the girls now?" He asks Lucas. "We dropped them off at the women's house you have set up." Lucas answers. Alpha nods his head then looks between us two. "Will you be staying a while?" Alpha asks. "No, We are going to head out as soon as we check on the girls." I answer back and he nods his head in understanding. "Well don't let me keep you then. You both are welcome here anytime." He then guides us to the door. I nod my head and go back to the women's house. Once I see that the women and children are alright I turn to leave. They thank Lucas and me for saving them and Lucas is smiling so much I swear he will split his mouth in half. I laugh at him and we walk out. Once we are 5 minutes out from the camp I turn to Lucas. "You did a good job tonight." I say and let Fen out to see we both are proud of him. He smiles at us and we feel his pride. "I had an amazing teacher." He says nudging us. We chuckle at him and continue walking. "Can I ask you something?" He says after a few minutes pass. I nod to him to tell him to go ahead. "How did you become the shadow?" He asks and I take a deep breath. He earned this answer. "Hunters." I say and he stops and gasps. His eyes are big. "Hunters? As in.. oh goddess. You were caught by hunters." He says shaking his head trying to convince himself he is wrong. Hunters are rare and some believe that they are only a myth so when people find out they are real they panic. "Lucas. It is fine." I say trying to calm him. "It isn't fine. You were caught by hunters and tortured. They experimented on you and that is why you are the way you are." He says, almost crying. "How the hell did he get all that from one word." Fen says in my head. "Maybe he had his suspicions about it. I don't know Fen, he is smart." I say and she huffs. "Lucas, look at me." I say removing my hood to reveal my face. He takes a deep breath and looks at me. "I am fine. I may have gone through hell to get here, but if I didn't I wouldn't have been able to save all the people I have." I say trying to reassure him. I see a couple tears fall down his face and I go to hug him. He wraps his arms around me and I send him calming energy. He backs away and blushes slightly. "Sorry." He says. I can feel that he is sad for me. He has come to care about me and I him. Not in a romantic way but more of a sibling way. "No need to be sorry." I say gripping his shoulder and squeezing it a little. We walk in silence for the rest of the way. "Good night Lucas." I say as we go our separate ways. "Goodnight Ace." He says.
