Chapter 29 After I get to the room I see Maleena come out of the bedroom curious. "I thought you would take longer." She says. "I decided to turn back. Are you heading to bed?" I ask. "I am. After today I am tired." She answers. "You can have the bedroom. I will be going out." I say as I start to head towards the balcony. "Is everything okay?" She asks. "It will be." I say as I keep heading towards the balcony. "Ace. Something is wrong. You don't sleep when something is wrong." She says. "Look it is nothing that concerns you Maleena. I will be fine." I say trying to convince her and myself. "Then what happened with the Alpha King?" She says. "Nothing." I say. "Look. LeeAca. I am happy that you are opening up to people and letting others in, but that doesn't mean you can push me away. I am a big girl." She says, while crossing her arms. "What do you mean I am letting other people in? I haven't let anybody in." I say defiantly. "You have. You might not have told them anything too personal, but you have friends. Beta Markus and Princess Amara, and Redna. You are being nicer to people and letting them actually talk to you. Not just scowl at them or help them and wish they would go away. AND Fen seems a little more calmed since you have been here. She didn't even kill that Larissa girl when she disrespected you and threatened me." She says trying to prove her point. "Why do you think Fen calmed down once I took back control?" I ask. "Because she knew the girl wasn't a real threat." Maleena says, matter of factly. "Wrong. Because I promised her we would go hunting for rogues tonight." I answer hoping she gets the point. "And the King declared her a rogue. She says almost sadly. But before you would have killed her on the spot. That at least is an improvement." She says. "Better to hunt when your prey isn't expecting it." I say, trying to discourage her from thinking I was becoming soft. In reality, she is right. I wouldn't have opened up to people and let myself have fun before. And I definitely wouldn't have spared people for disrespecting me and threatening my family. I am starting to get softer. "We can only blame the damn mate bond. It makes us do and think stupid things." Fen grumbles in my head. I just sigh and go out towards the patio. I climb down and make my way toward the forest. It's time to hunt. As I suspected I found this particular rogue not too far from the border, just inside of no man's land. When she sees me she has the audacity to smirk. "Come to ask for advice on how to please the King?" She asks boldly. I smile and let Fen come out. My eyes turn bright green and my smile turns sadistic. Larissa's face falls as fear comes across. "You.. You.. You are.. You."" She starts stuttering and shaking. "I'm. I'm. I'm. What b*tch? Fen asks in her voice. "You're him." She says in disbelief. Fen laughs. "Well. Her." She says. The woman is paralyzed in fear. That's not as fun, but oh well. Fen walks up to her slowly, giving her a chance to run. She doesn't. She snapped out of her fear when Fen conjured up a dagger and stabbed her in the shoulder. She screamed in pain, making the wind pick up. Her gift must be air. Too bad she doesn't know how to control it well. It would have made for a good fight. "I'm sorry for what I said. Please don't kill me." She starts begging. "Well you're no fun at all." Fen says. Taking the dagger from the girl's shoulder and slicing her neck with it. We drop the dagger and head to a pond nearby to rinse off. When we are done we head back to our training grounds. That took shorter than expected and didn't burn off our angst so we started training. Lucas showed up at 12:20 and I started working with him. We went over the basics again and spared a bit, trying to get the basics drilled into him. After which we had about two hours till the sun came up. To finish the training we started running. After running for 30 minutes he had to stop. It irritated me and Fen. We were trying to help this boy and he isn't even pushing himself. He didn't seem to be trying too hard when we spared and we both knew he could have ran for another 20 minutes "Get up." I tell him sternly. He just looks at me, like he didn't understand what I was telling him. I get frustrated even more and grab his arm to get him up. "Let's go." I say walking to the nearby lake. I walk into the lake until it reaches my mid torso. It is perfect since he is a bit taller than me. He followed me, but stopped when the water hit his knees. "Come here." I say, getting impatient. He follows until he is standing near me. "Kneel." I order him, forcing him to fall to his knees. He is confused but this is the only way I know how to get him to push. I grab his head and shove him under the water. He immediately starts struggling against me, trying to get me to let him back up. I feel his panic. After about a minute I let him come back up. He is heaving and gasping for breath. Once he barely catches his breath, I shove him back under the water, let him struggle and bring him back up for air. After the second time I let him breathe. "YOU TRIED TO KILL ME!" He yells "No, I didn't." I say calmly. "Then what do you call what you just did?" He asks. "When you were under the water what did you want? What is the only thing you thought about?" I ask. "Air. I wanted to breathe, but you wouldn't let me." He says. "Correct. Air is the only thing you thought about. It is the only thing you wanted. Now let me ask you this. Do you want to be a warrior more than anything you have ever wanted?" I ask. "Yes, but what does drowning me have to do with that?" He says. "When you were under water you were struggling. You would have given anything to be able to breathe again. You didn't think about anything else, only air." I say. He just continues to look at me. "If you want to be a warrior as badly as you say you do. You would do anything to get it. Just like you wanted to breathe when I held you under water. I expect you to push yourself to your limits to become a warrior. If you do not, then you need to choose another occupation, because you obviously do not want this as much as you think you do. Take the rest of the night and think about this lesson. If you decide you need to be a warrior as bad as you feel the need to breathe, then come back to the training ground tomorrow." I say as I get out of the water and head to the castle. In Addicted to You movie, Audrey's biggest regret? A one-night stand with Floyd, her secret love for eight years. Despite his arranged marriage and his family's troubles, he kept rescuing her. She tho...
