Chapter 28 LeeAca's POV I get back to my room and see that the girls got the bookshelf torn out, leaving a huge hole in the wall. It's a good thing that wasn't a load bearing wall or we would be in some deep sh*t. "You couldn't have waited for me to at least get one good hit in?" I ask, giving them a hard time. "You left. We didn't know how long you would be." Amara says. "Yeah, and you said to get started without you." Maleena chimed in. "Well I can argue with that logic. What else do we need to do?" I ask. "Well first we need to clean this up, so we wait for the dumpster to be brought to the patio and we will throw everything out of those doors." Amara says, pointing to the patio doors. We get drinks out of the mini fridge and sit on the bar stools next to the island. 15 minutes later the dump truck pulls up and we start throwing stuff out the window. We also took all the furniture that was in that room and threw it out of the window as well. Everything in there was a bunch of empty, dirty and broken furniture that somebody just didn't want to get rid of. Once we were done it was dinner time. Having werewolf strength and speed help us get it done faster. It also helps that we are all in pretty good shape. We didn't need to take as many breaks, and if we did it was only a 5 minute break. We have dinner brought up to the room and go to my bedroom to eat since it isn't dust filled and a mess. Amara uses the whole time to talk about her plans for the apartment. When we are gathering out dishes to put on the tray to take back to the kitchen a knock comes. I go to the door and see Markus standing there staring into the room with wide eyes. "Oh, Lord, here comes the lecture." Amara says, rolling her eyes. "Lecture?" I hear Maleena ask low. Then he starts. "Are you guys crazy? What if that was a load bearing wall? The whole side of the castle would have crumbled down. Did you even consult a contractor? Oh goddess, did you get permission from Alarick?" He says moving his hands a mile a minute. I feel his panic. "Relax dude. We checked to see if it was a load bearing wall. The castle wouldn't have come crumbling down, you drama queen. And as for Alarick, well he won't mind. He doesn't want his queen living in a place like this." Amara says. Markus just huffs and walks in. "Where did that room come from?" He asks confusingly. "We magically put it there." Amara answered sarcastically. "It was hidden behind the TV." I answered before those two could start arguing. "Is there a reason you are bugging us right now?" Amara says. "LeeAca, I was wondering if you wanted to walk with me to check on patrol?" He asks. "Why would she want to go with you to check on patrol?" Amara asks accusingly. "Well, if you must know, she asked before if she could come with me, so I figured I would ask if she wanted to go with me tonight." He says getting annoyed. "Sure, I'll go." I say walking out before they could really start fighting. I don't know why those two hate each other so much. I just feel it whenever they are in the room together. As soon as we walk out of the castle, Markus starts. "So, I wanted to see how you are doing?" He says. "I'm fine?" I say in a questioning voice. "I meant you seemed a little panicked when Alarick told you about the ceremony. I wanted to see if you needed somebody to talk to about it." He says. "No, I'm good. I knew that it was going to happen sooner or later. It just seems to be sooner rather than later." I say, not going into any details. "Right. Well I will say that Alarick seems to be excited about it. He will never say that, but his mood has been a little happier since talking with you." He says. I stop in my tracks. "What are you saying Mark?" I ask, seriously. "Oh, nothing. Just that he seems happier since your meeting." He says ominously. "We have a strict business deal. He and I made that clear." I say warningly. I feel Mark's nervousness. Fen starts pacing and I can feel her worry. I must have shown it on my face because the next moment Markus grabs my arm and says "Look I wasn't trying to freak you out. I just thought that you might give him a chance. Maybe you two can make eachother happy." He says. "No. I made it clear from the beginning that I do not want a mate and he said so as well. I will never change my mind on that." I say getting angry and moving my arm away from his hand. "I never said anything about mates. I just meant as friends." He says, but I can feel his disappointment. "I don't understand why you wouldn't want a mate. I would give anything to have my mate back or get a second chance. That happiness and wholeness you feel is irreplaceable." He says. "Mates are a weakness. They are either true to the bond and make you soft, or they betray you and tear you apart from the inside out. I don't want a mate, chosen or gifted, and that will not change." I say walking away, back to the palace. I am not having this conversation with him. I hear him talk out loud. "They are too much alike." I just keep walking.
