Chapter 7 Married life was better than I'd imagined. Not only did Lorenzo give me complete freedom, but he even prepared the best research equipment for me. I was soon back in my rhythm, and I even enhanced the efficacy of the outdated weapons the Marras used. "What a genius you are," Lorenze said, openly expressing his admiration for me. "I married a genius!" My cheeks warmed, but I couldn't resist lifting my chin proudly. "That's nothing. I could've done even better if Camilla hadn't stolen my design schematics." Chuckling, Lorenzo ruffled my hair and said, "Speaking of which, she and Leon haven't been doing too well lately." "Oh?" I raised a brow. Camilla and Leon did end up getting married. However, unlike the previous life, where they maintained a sweet and romantic dalliance despite the illicitness of their relationship, the two started fighting on their wedding night. "Out of faith in Camilla, the Carbone family mass-produced her design even before I exposed her. But during one of their negotiations, the explosions that happened looked even more spectacular than a fireworks show." Snorting, I remarked, "Serves them right." Lorenzo narrowed his eyes, pushing me back onto the couch. "Why am I falling more and more in love with you, you sly little fox?" Just as he was about to kiss me, my phone rang. Leon was calling me. I immediately rejected the call and tossed my phone aside. Lorenzeo stared at me, his dark eyes looking almost predatory. I hooked my arms around his neck and kissed his lips. "Shall we pick up where we left off?" He scooped me up and carried me off to the bedroom. Alas, Leon didn't stop harassing me. He started showing up at all the places I might be found, including restaurants and on the way to my research lab. Somehow, he even slipped past the estate's outer security and ambushed me on the garden path leading to the house. "Let's talk, Elena," Leon said as he grabbed me by the wrist, his eyes bloodshot. I flung his hand off in disdain and turned to leave. "I've got nothing to say to you." 1/3 Chapter 7 +25 Bonus However, Leon refused to give up. He chased after me, saying, "I've already found out that you're the real design genius. I was such a fool back then. Can you forgive me?" "Stay away from me," I retorted, not once pausing in my tracks. His fists clenched, but his tense shoulders started sagging. "Alright, I'll be honest with you. Camila stole the access to my factory as well as your family's factory. She funneled all of our production resources into making her designs. 11 "What did you say?" I froze in shock. "You must be joking." "How I wish it were just a joke!" he declared, raking his hand through his hair. "She's lost her mind. She's insisting on proving herself. Both my family and yours have poured 200 million dollars into her projects, and she even destroyed your old design schematics. We don't have a single order now!" Leon grabbed my wrist again and pleaded with hopeful eyes, "Please, out of consideration for the fact that we grew up together, please help me recreate the original design schematics. I promise I'll never bother you again!" Yet again, I broke free of his grasp, and when he tried to reach for me once more, I pulled out my gun and pointed it at him. "Don't forget how you treated me back then. You want me to help you? Dream on! Get the hell out of here, or I'll ask my husband to feed you to the sharks." "Elena!" Leon roared in disbelief. "When did you become so heartless? Don't you care that I'm trying to make things right with you? Do you even care if I live or die?" Staring at him coldly, I said, "I'd be thrilled if you died." Leon's blood turned cold. Even as the bodyguards hauled him off, he didn't word. say a When I mentioned this to Lorenzo over dinner, he smiled meaningfully at me. "They're having problems with all of their orders, huh? How shocking." Cocking a brow, I asked, "Don't tell me it was your doing." Lorenzo shrugged. "How so? I just so happen to be acquainted with the bosses who placed the orders, and I just so happen to be able to offer them even better products. And it just so happens that Camilla's personal maid used to work for me." He grinned slyly at me before he continued, "It can't be helped that the Marras have such a useful intelligence network." I snorted, the anger I felt from the incident earlier somehow melting away thanks to his offhanded "coincidences". That being said, Leon's persistent harassment displeased Lorenzo to no end, and during such times, it was my body that ended up sore and aching afterward. After yet another intense bout of passion, Lorenzeo hugged my limp body and bit my ear, saying, "Don't worry. Soon, the pesky fly won't be able to bother you anymore." Some time later, the butler's voice rang out from the other side of the door. "Don Marra, Mr. and Mrs. Cassano are at the gate... and they insist on seeing Mrs. 2/3 Discover our latest featured short drama reel. Watch now and enjoy the story!
