Fatima’s POV When we were sure that we had done enough damage, we left the sitting room and went to the main parlor to watch all the drama unfold. As I stood up to get apples since we finished all the popcorn in the house yesterday in our popcorn eating contest I heard Halli shout my name which means the drama is about to start. I took the whole bowl of apples and rushed back to the parlor. I met Sophie’s mum seated there with fury written all over her face. I greeted her and she managed a fake smile. Halli being the drama queen she was asked if she should call her parents for her and I played along by offering her some juice but she refused everything and lied that she was here to see her husband and take Sophie back home with her. We said okay and pretended to be focused on our phones while in the real sense we were waiting for all the drama to unfold. When Sophie came downstairs she was looking as calm as ever. I heard Halli mutter hypocrite. I laughed at her comment and looked up from my phone just in time to see Aunty Fauzzy land a slap on Sophie’s face. That was the best sight of my life. Sophie was already crying. The sound of the slap echoed in the house that it made Halli’s parents to rush out of their rooms. And within the twinkle of an eye everyone was in the parlor wondering where the sound came from. The second slap was far more than the first but just as Aunty Fauzzy was about to land the third one Uncle Marafa held her hand. Mummy – Halli’s mum -, Daddy – Halli’s dad – and uncle Marafa tried to calm Aunty Fauzzy down. We were told to take Sophie upstairs. I took her left hand while Halli took her right hand and then we took her upstairs. Once we were out of the parents’ sight, we dropped her with a loud thud but thankfully, the thud didn’t echo. Halli sanitized her hands first before I did mine. Once were done, we heard Aunty Fauzzy shout Sophie’s name that she should get her things she’s leaving that moment. We were called again and by the time we all reached downstairs once again, Aunty Fauzzy was calm as sea in the morning. We all sat down in the parlor and then the drama continued. Aunty Fauzzy started questioning Sophie on why she did what she did. “why safiyya? Why did you choose one random boy over your own blood? And were you in your right senses when you opened your mouth and told a boy you loved him!? Was it foolishness that made you do all that or did you just wanna make a mockery of me?” Aunty Fauzzy questioned. “mum I swear I didn’t tell the boy I love him. He saw me and sis Halima together strolling and then he offered us a lift, when I saw that sis Halima had entered the car, I followed suit. When he was about to drop us he asked for both our numbers and we gave him. He then chatted me up through whatsapp and said he loved me.” Oh my God this girl is a pro when it comes to lying. “I hope you remember the fact that I hate lies? Stop trying to lie because I know every bit of the truth. I know about the fact that you had told him you loved him and when he said that you are too small for him, you said that you would commit suicide. You even took a pic of poison in your hands and sent it to him proving that you meant every word you said. I also know that when Halima here found out and asked why you betrayed her you said that it is because you are jealous of her. “All what I and your dad do to you isn’t enough right!? You just have to go about shaming us. Am even ashamed to call you my daughter. But guess what I won’t beat you, you said you love the boy right? Now you will get married in the next 3 years that is, when you’ll be turning sixteen. You won’t go to school anymore because I’ll personally get a lesson teacher for you. You won’t step out of the house till your wedding day. And lastly I get to choose who you’ll marry and you’ll do nothing other than accept the person. And I mean every single word I said. Every one of it. Now get your things and take them to the car. “Lest I forget, give me your phone and when we reach home I’ll take all your gadgets away from you. The only gadget you’ll have access to is a computer system which will be programmed only for learning. Bid your cousin and your friend goodbye because you might bot see them again except when they come to visit.” Aunty Fauzzy left the parlor with tears in her eyes. Everyone was surprised at her reaction but she’s a kinda person that when she says something she never goes back on it. She always keeps to her word. But now I feel bad for what we did. Because of us, poor Safiyya will suffer. I feel really bad for her. Halli touched my shoulder and signaled me to go upstairs to her room. I went there and met her consoling safiyya. We told her that maybe her mum was just scaring her after an hour of consolation, we helped safiyya get her things out and apologized for what we did.
