---- Chapter 4 My corpse was already corroded into a pile of blood and bones. What was left of me had already soaked through the earth, thus disappearing from the pit. Other than the rocks and the ropes that once bound me, my clothes, as well as an iron crest, were left on the ground. The crest I wore was the family crest. The logo, signifying the five wolves of the Wilde family, was engraved on the crest. When a pack member died, the other pack members would take turns wearing their crest. It was their way of remembering the dead forever. A careful look at the clothes would show tiny pieces of glass, stained with a bluish-green liquid, stuck to them. I still held onto a trace of hope that my brothers could uncover the truth. I hoped that they could believe me just this once. At least, it would prove that they still cared about me. ---- Unfortunately, reality just had to snuff out my last bit of hope. Leo went pale. "Shit! She actually escaped from the mine!" Luke and Ryan, on the other hand, couldn't help but cover their noses. "What's that bottle of blue stuff?" Luke stared at the broken bottle. He exclaimed viciously, "That fucking brat! She knew that we wouldn't spare her life, so she procured the chemicals just to fake her death in order to trick us!" Rupert had a knowing look on his face. "I told you that she's a sly one! Here you are, planning to teach her a lesson, when in reality, she's secretly mocking you for being foolish!" Luke nodded. "No wonder I couldn't connect to her via mind link! She must have sought out a witch to help her in the first place! By now, she must have escaped to some place far away with her wolf! ---- "Damn it! She'd better not slip up and let me catch her! Otherwise, I will never let her off the hook!" Selena couldn't resist getting close to the silver mine. But Leo wrapped an arm around her shoulders and steered her away from it. "Selena, you mustn't go near the pit. It reeks too much. I'm worried that you might not be able to handle it." Luke didn't want to look at the pit anymore. Rupert crossed his arms before his chest, anger apparent on his face. "We have to capture her and punish her properly." While Ryan's expression remained the same, his voice was frostier than before. "Since she has the guts to lie to us, we'll chain her up in the silver mine. She can forget about leaving her prison forever." After that, Leo ordered Rupert to burn all of my things in the silver mine. ---- "She doesn't deserve the crest." Just like that, I was exiled from the family. The flames devoured my clothes and destroyed my crest. Memories of the years we had spent as a family curled up into ashes as well, thanks to the fire. My brothers turned on their heels and left the silver mine, their silhouettes radiating nothing but icy aloofness. Selena feigned concern as she said, "Where could Lorraine go? A low-tier Omega like her doesn't have any money or weapons. She'll be met with life- threatening danger if she leaves the pack's territory." Leo replied firmly, "There's no way Lorraine can run that far in such a short period. We'll definitely recapture her by the end of today and make it up to you, Selena."
