---- Chapter 8 Julian's use of "darling" made Angela shudder a little, but she didn't correct him or object to it. At the recollection that he was her superior, she gulped nervously and said, "Actually, boss, I can take a cab to work myself." Driving, Julian kept his eyes on the road. "You don't need to go to work today." "But it's Wednesday, a workday." Julian's lips slowly curled upward until he couldn't hide his smile anymore. "It's a fine day today. Why don't we celebrate this occasion?" he suggested cheerfully. "What would you like for lunch? Pasta? Steak? Maybe some seafood?" These were all Angela's favorites. After giving it some thought, she replied, "Let's have steak. Since it's a celebration, it's best to have something hearty." Julian drove them to a luxury steakhouse. In the past, whenever Angela saw a restaurant of this scale, she would simply take a photo of the place and leave right after. ---- However, since the wealthy Julian was footing the bill today, she could finally head inside with an easy heart. Unsurprisingly, the restaurant was worthy of its price tag. Everything from the menu to the cutlery was exquisite in every way. Julian let Angela decide what they would have for lunch. "You can order whatever you want." "T'll hold you to that." Angela was fairly aware of how wealthy Julian was, so she didn't hold back at all. "Let's start with some lobster bisque. For our appetizers, we'll have the seafood platter with an extra side of caviar, lobster tail, and crab legs. And for our mains, we'll have the dry-aged ribeye steak..." She ordered every single item on the menu that she normally avoided entirely. Once she realized just how many things she'd asked for, she hesitated. "I don't think we can finish everything. Let me cancel a few of them." "It's fine," Julian said as he took the menu from her and passed it back to the server. "We'll have everything she ordered." ---- Before Angela could say anything, he explained, " Since it's a celebration, we should indulge a little. How will you know whether you enjoy the food if you don't try it first?" His words made a lot of sense, and Angela felt at ease about having a feast on his dime. While she wasn't all that well-acquainted with him, she didn't feel the need to hold herself back or worry about her etiquette in front of him. All she had to do was focus on enjoying the food. Soon, she started sweating from having had a little too much of the spicy sauce that came with the food. Julian ate slowly. He spent most of his time carving up the steak for Angela and refilling her water glass. Thus, after seeing her reaction to the spice, he called over their designated server and said, "Bring her a glass of warm milk. Make sure it's warm." "Hang on!" Angela said. "Give me a glass of cold soda instead. That'll help with the spice more." "But you're having your period right now," Julian said calmly. "It's best if you avoid cold drinks for now.
