---- Chapter 9 As Tom got nearer and nearer, I could no longer hold back my urge to vomit. In an instant, the fluid that came out of my mouth sprayed all over Tom's face. Some of it even got into his mouth. "Why, you!" Stunned and infuriated, Clara wanted to slap me, but she ended up slipping and falling into a pool of vomit. I yanked the door open and waved at Mr. Zeller, who was rushing toward the vehicle. "I'm over here, Mr. Zeller!" From the day I moved out of the house, Dad installed a tracking device on my phone. At the time, I teased him for being too worried. "T spend nearly all of my time cooped up inside the house anyway. Why would you ever need to track my location?" Alas, he knew better than me after all. The tracking device had saved my life. ---- With a group of men in tow, Mr. Zeller hurried over to protect me. The men proceeded to haul Tom and Clara out of the vehicle in anger before giving them a good thrashing. "How dare you try to set your sights on her? Are you out of your mind? If I'd known this would happen, I should've seen to it that you and your mother both end up in prison!" Mr. Zeller growled. I reached out to stop Mr. Zeller. "Don't do this to them." Mr. Zeller turned to me with a pitying look as he asked sternly, "Why are you still being so merciful at atime like this, Cassandra?" I shook my head in response. Why would I go easy on them? From the moment Tom and Clara dragged me into that van, I thought things through. Some people didn't deserve to be shown kindness and understanding. People needed to pay for their actions. ---- "Mr. Zeller, if I'm not mistaken, Sally's laundromat is still open at this hour, right? Let's take them there," I said crisply. "Filth like them needs to be washed." By the time the cops arrived, Tom was curled up ina ball outside Sally's Washery. He looked overjoyed to see the flashing lights of the police vehicle. "T-The police..." It wasn't easy for him to speak. He kept burping up bubbles. Meanwhile, Clara rolled her eyes and kept groaning behind him. Her belly was full of dirty water. The police officers who came by were the ones who had taken them away the last time, so they were no strangers to the two. Nevertheless, they performed their duty to the letter and did everything by the book anyway. Before leaving, they asked about Benjamin. "What about the child? What's going to happen to him with you two gone?" Discover our latest featured short drama reel. Watch now and enjoy the story!
