It took three hours to clean up the mess. The house was shining again and only Cody was here besides us, who was still lying on the couch and sleeping off his intoxication. "So he won't be back?" Juline asked me when Micah, she and I were standing in the kitchen and I had told them everything. "No," I replied, broken, and immediately there was a silence between us that was almost unbearable. After all, it was about James, or as my friends called my father, Jimmy, who was there for them often enough and now had to look for a new place to live on his own. I loved my mother, but her cold selfishness created a wedge between us that she could never undo. "I'm sure he'll find something soon and then you can move in with him," Micah tried to cheer me up and gave me a pitying smile. "Yeah, definitely," Juline said and put her hand on mine and I was really happy to have them both in my life. Even the strongest storm could be turned into a mild breeze with her assistance. I still didn't want to imagine what it would be like to live alone with my mother. "Do we want to do something? I mean to distract myself," Juline said, but Micah immediately shook his head in the negative. "Sorry, but I can hardly stand standing here. I urgently need a round of sleep, but we can go to the cinema tonight," he suggested and we nodded in agreement. "Then see you tonight," we said goodbye at the door and then the two of us walked home to Juline. She suddenly laughed and grabbed my arm in amusement. Was she still drunk? "We completely forgot about that Cody," she continued to laugh, and I laughed too that he was still lying on Micah's couch, sleeping like a baby. "How do you know him anyway?" she then asked after she had regained her composure and I just shrugged. "I don't know him. Those idiots pushed him around the garden last night, so I came to his aid." She looked at me thoughtfully and suddenly smiled in embarrassment. "But this guy with the brown hair is really cute," she said and I just widened my eyes in disbelief. She could hardly mean that idiot with the pen in his hand Before I could ask her that, we arrived at her house and immediately ran upstairs to her room. She took a shower while I looked at her book collection and after a while she came back into the room in her comfortable clothes and then went to bed. "Will you wake me up at 8pm?" she asked with her eyes closed and I gave her a soft "yes" back that I wasn't sure she had even heard. As soon as I heard her soft snoring, I made myself comfortable on the couch with my cell phone in my hand and that's when the note from this guy came to my mind again. I pulled it out of my pocket, unfolded it curiously and saw a series of numbers that either didn't mean anything or were his cell phone number. I hesitated, but then typed it into my cell phone and saved it under Idiot, just to be on the safe side, you never knew. His contact was immediately displayed on Whatsapp and without thinking much about it, I clicked on his profile picture, which immediately sent a shiver down my spine. It showed him and a girl in his arms smiling at each other as if they were each other's love. What did the guy get out of giving me his number? I guess I was right about saving it as an idiot. Just as I was about to put my phone down, I got a text from my mom and rolled my eyes before I read it. Would you please tell me where you are? I didn't answer her, put the phone down and just stared stubbornly at the ceiling above me. She wasn't usually interested in where I was, why all of a sudden this great interest? Without breaking my head any further, I closed my eyes and dozed off. Of course, a thousand thoughts shot through my head all the time, but I skilfully blocked them out and then fell asleep too. When I finally looked at my phone and it was finally 8 p.m., I woke up Juline, who immediately jumped out of bed and ran to the bathroom. I thought she was full of energy, but then I heard these disgusting gagging noises in her room and almost had to throw up from these tormented sounds. "I'm out when it comes to cinema," she mumbled sleepily and fell back into bed exhausted. "You can't do that! Micah must be on his way to the cinema waiting for us," I shook her, but she just smacked her lips and didn't give me any reaction. Excellent! I haven't been alone with him since the kiss and now I should go to the cinema with him as if it were the most normal thing in the world. Confused, I grabbed my phone and ran out of the house to make my way to the cinema. The sun was slowly setting but it was still pleasantly warm. "Hey, where's Juline?" Micah greeted me in front of the cinema and I just shook my head. "She wasn't able to get up," I answered him and he then looked at me just as nervously as I did at him. "What's going on?" I tried to relax the situation, but he suddenly seemed even more tense. "A romantic comedy," he murmured, and I swallowed hard. I could have imagined that fate wasn't kind to me and when we went to buy the tickets and I suddenly saw those three idiots again, my crash evening was almost perfect.
