---- Chapter 5 Despite what David had said,he couldn't stop himself from thinking about me next morning. At the first break of light, he was already sending guards in every direction to find me. But as time dragged on with no sign , as if I had vanished from the face of the earth, the unease in his chest began to mount. He-an Alpha of the highest rank-couldn't even sense the faintest trace of his own mate. Not a scent, not a whisper of presence. "Damn !" his wolf snarled, slamming his palm against a tree, then, clinging to a faint sliver of hope, jumped into his car and sped den-praying I would already be there. But the house was silent, empty. In the master bedroom, all my belongings were gone -replaced, quietly, by Amy's. He searched the entire den, desperate for any lingering piece of me. ---- In the end, all he found was a single photograph. It was taken beneath the fireworks, the night we vowed ourselves to each other. I was smiling brightly at the lights; he, turned toward me, gaze filled with love. That had been the happiest time of our lives. But everything had started to unravel the moment he went ona battle- brought Amy into his life. Amy, the She-wolf who had saved him from the battle. The She-wolf he felt he owed everything to. From that moment on, his heart had begun to drift, and the cracks in our bond had grown wider. Now, a dark, gut-wrenching premonition gripped him: May-the mate who once loved him with her entire soul-might truly be gone. His heart clenched in panic. His wolf paced violently within him, claws unsheathed, howling with a desperate, helpless rage. Even Amy's calls and messages went unanswered now. He didn't care. He didn't want to hear her voice. ---- Then a knock. A guard rushed into the room. David's eyes lit up with hope. "Is it her? Did you find May? Where is she? Tell her- I'm not angry. I swear, if she comes home now, I'll forgive everything." But the guard hesitated, eyes lowered, voice tight. "We didn't find her, sir. But we did find her phone... near the ocean." David's breath caught. "The ocean? Why would her phone be at the ocean?" The guard hesitated again, then forced the words out. "The driver who picked her up said she was bundled up strangely. And... her emotions didn't seem right. We think she might've been planning to... to end her life." Silence. And then, ina flash of fury, David hurled a crystal ashtray across the room, shattering it into pieces. Discover our latest featured short drama reel. Watch now and enjoy the story!
