Chapter 36 I was hanging from the ceiling in silver chains. I had lashed out and punched one of the guards. Fen still wasn't with me. She shut down after being betrayed. The guard I hit came through the door with another guard who was holding a syringe. Both with eyes of hate. The one I hit came up to me and punched me in the face, breaking my nose. He then reset it roughly and said "Can't go ruining your face now can I?" Then he laughed. The other man came up and stabbed me with the syringe, injecting me with wolfsbane. Pain radiated throughout my whole body as I screamed. The man I hit started laughing, then ripped off my pants I had on. I was struggling against him, even though I was in pain I didn't want this. "Shhhh. Little wolf. This will only hurt a lot." He says, still laughing. He unbuttoned his pants and I saw it bounce out. I started seizing from the wolfsbane as he shoved it in me. I woke up panting. My whole body felt like it was on fire. Maleena shot up from next to me forcing me to jump. "What's wrong?" She asked immediately, going into fight mode. "Nothing, just a night terror." I say looking at the clock, it reads 11:55. I sigh and get up from bed changing into workout clothes. Black leggings and a black long sleeve top. I can feel Maleena watching me as I come out of the bathroom. "You still have those?" She asks. "They'll never go away. I just count on them always being there. Go back to sleep, Little Sun. I will be back in the morning to wake you up for school." I say as I head towards the window. I see her smile from me calling her by her nickname and she lays back down. I go to my training grounds and see that Lucas is already there waiting for me. It is 12:15. I smile to myself knowing that he will push himself harder from now on. Fen is still quiet from last night's events, but I can feel her satisfaction at him being here. "I thought about what you said. And I want this more than anything. I am willing to do whatever it takes." He says confidently. "Don't tell me. Show me." I say as we do some stretches. After that we get into a fighting position and start sparing. He is doing well. After that we work on the basics, which he has down, so I add in some more complicated moves. By the end of the night he has those mastered. We finish the training with a run. And head back to the castle. "All he needed was proof that he wanted it. Before he wouldn't have the confidence to try those moves, he is a natural learner." Fen says proudly. "He is, all it takes is a few times showing him and few correcting his positioning and he is good." I say back smiling. I don't know what was holding him back before, but after our talk he seems like he is a natural. I get back to the room and am surprised to see Maleena already up. She is digging through her suitcase looking for something to wear. I can feel her stress. "Good! You're back! I need help." She says holding some things up. Fen and I chuckle at her. She is holding up a baby blue summer dress, a green t-shirt, and a floral blouse. "What is the statement you are wanting to make?" I ask, indulging in her teenage angst. "Well. Um.. I don't know." She says, while throwing the clothes on the bed and pouting." I just want to blend in. I already stand out by mixing my schedule." She says, sighing. "I tell you what. Wear that floral tank top you got from Laura. Pair it with your ripped jeans, and black boots. You can borrow one of my leather jackets if you want to give off a more rough look." I say and she lights up. "You'd let me have one of your jackets?" She asks excitedly. "You said nothing about have." Fen buts in. "Yes. Just not my good one." I say and she nods excitedly and starts digging through her suitcase for the clothes. I only shake my head and go towards the bathroom to take a shower. I get out and see her panicking. "You took forever! I need to take a shower, and still do my hair and makeup." She exclaims. "You still have over an hour to do that. It is 5:30." I say patting her head and she looks at me grumpily. "You don't know the struggle of actually trying to look nice." She says as she walks behind me and shuts the bathroom door. "Ouch." I say, a little hurt by the comment. "She's right. We have never cared about how we look." Fen says. I just sigh and head to the bed. I pick up my sketchpad and start to sketch. Redna walks in 30 minutes later with breakfast. Her face is gleaming. "What are you smiling about?" I ask her in a playful manner. "I finally stood up to my mother. My brother was out on patrol and she was going after my sister. I stopped her." She says beaming. "How did you stop her?" I ask. "I pushed her back and when she tried to hit me I instantly blocked it and hit her back." She says, proudly. There is a small feeling of guilt I can feel from her. "Hell yeah you did." I say smiling at her. "Then I told her that if she ever threatened me and my sister again We will move out and she would be left with nobody." She says, proudly standing tall. "Good for you Redna. I am proud of you. I know it must have been hard to stand up to her, but hopefully now she acts right." I say getting up and going over to the breakfast she sat down on the small table. She runs to me and hugs me, making me feel awkward. "Thank you so much. You have no idea how it feels to finally be strong and stand up to her." She says letting me go then blushing. "This morning she even had breakfast ready for me before I left for work. She apologized for how she has been acting towards me since my father died." She said with tears brimming in her eyes. "Well that is good. Hopefully she stays on the right track." I say reaching for a plate. She nods, then proceeds to talk. "You know. My sister said that she made a new friend at school yesterday. Said her name is Maleena and she is starting school today. "I knew Genevive was her sister. Good. I nodded my head and said "Yup. Maleena was excited to finally make a friend." "Genie has a hard time making friends. I was surprised to hear she made one within such a short time of meeting her." She says smiling. "My sister has a certain personality that draws people toward her." I say while taking a bite of the omlet on my plate. Redna smiles. "Is there anything else that you are needing today?" She asks me. "Not that I can think of." I say back. "Oh the King's servant wanted me to remind you that you have a meeting with him at 10:00." She says before she turns around and walks out. I thought after yesterday he would be done with the daily meetings. "Damn." Fen says. Maleena walks out fully dressed and ready to go. It is 6:30 she grabs the apple from the breakfast tray and grabs her bag. She let her hair dry naturally and it is forming waves, she did her makeup, while it isn't too much it is just enough to make her blue eyes pop and lips look bigger. She is wearing the outfit I told her to and she runs across the hall to my closet and grabs one of my leather jackets. After she puts it on, she grabs her bag and double checks it. We start walking toward the castle door when we run into Alena. Alena's eyes got big then she started vibrating with excitement. "Do you need a ride?" She asked Maleena. Maleena looked up at me to see if I would allow it. I just smiled and nodded. "Have a good day, my little sun." I say as I kiss her forehead and watch them walk out. I can feel eyes watching me. I turn around and see Markus standing there smirking at me. "What?" I ask him, getting a little irritated. "Your little sun?" He asks, chuckling. "Yes. I have called her that since she was a child." I say. I raise my eyebrow at him questioningly. He skips up next to me and elbows me in the side. "You haven't given me a cute nickname yet." He jokes. Fen cackles in my head. She has given him a nickname. "Chihuahua" I smirk at him "Oh you have a nickname." I say to him and his face drops slightly. "You have never used it. What is it?" He asks, curiosity written over his face. "I don't use it." I said putting emphasis on I. His face only deepens with curiosity. "What do you mean?" He asks. "My wolf gave you a nickname and it is all she uses." I say "Your wolf? What does she call me?" He asks. "You really want to know?" I ask, raising an eyebrow at him. "Yes. Tell me." He wines. "Just like a chihuahua." Fen says in my head. "She calls you chihuahua." I tell him and his face falls. "No she doesn't." He says deadpan. "Oh, but she does. She refuses to call you anything else." I said to him, "Why?" He asks. "Because you annoy her like a chihuahua, but she tolerates you because you are a good person." I say. Fen rolls her eyes. "No, he only annoys me." She says. I saw his face fall, but then lightened up a little. "You have never talked about your wolf before." He says to me, "There is no need to talk about my wolf." I say, while walking towards the stairs to go back to my room. "What is she like?" He asks. I can feel his wolf coming forward to be in the conversation. Weird. "She is like any other wolf." I say trying to brush off the topic. "All wolves are different. What does she look like?" He asks. "A giant dog." I answer, earning a growl from her. She hates to be compared to a dog. "That isn't what I mean." He says. "What is her name?" He asks. I sigh. "Stupid chihuahua. Annoying me with questions." Fen grumbles. "Fen." I say. I feel uncomfortable. Nobody knows her full name, and only family and Laura know her as Fen. "Fen. Is that short for something?" He asks. "Yes." I say with no further explanation. He could tell that I didn't want to continue on the topic so he changed it. "I think that the schedule change for the school is a good idea." He says. "Nice transition dumba*s." Fen snorts. "Me too. That is why I am going to help do it." I said as I continued up the stairs. "Good. stick to your instincts. I am heading to training, I will see you later." He turns and walks out the front door. I head back to my room, running into Amara before I walk in. "Coffee?" She asks I smile and turn around to go to our coffee shop. In Addicted to You movie, Audrey's biggest regret?
