Chapter 22 When 8:00 hit I called Laura. "Ace! Did you figure it out?" She asked. "The situation is taken care of. Now I need you to do something for me. I need my computer." I told her. Just then Redna comes into the room with her head down. I have been trying to get her to open up the past few weeks, but the only progress I have made is getting her to call me LeeAca. I can feel her sadness, worry, and shame. When I look at her she is quickly stocking things and already put my breakfast tray on the little island. I hear Laura at the other end of the phone talking "Hello? How do you want" before she could finish, I interrupted her. "I got to go to Laur. I will talk to you later." I say over the phone and hang up before Redna could run out. "Redna." I say and she jumps. She continues to look at the ground while answering. "Yes, LeeAca. Is there something you are needing today?" She asks. "Why are you not looking at me?" I ask as I get up and start walking over to her. "I am very busy today Luna. I must get back." She says trying to leave. Before she could open the door I blocked her way and I grabbed her chin and tilted it up. I can feel her fear. I look to see she has a purple eye and a busted lip. "What happened?" I ask, trying to be calm but I feel Fen getting angry. "I fell." She says. "She fell.. That is a shi*ty excuse. Let's find out who did this and beat them to a pulp." Fen says. "Don't lie to me Redna." I say as a warning. She looks down and answers. "Sometimes when my brother is out, my mother gets angry. She um.. She.." As she starts crying and hugs me. I feel awkward. I have really only hugged my sister and very rarely my brother. I pat her shoulders and give her some calm energy and lead her to the couch. "Redna. Your mother hits you?" I ask. "Sometimes. Only when she has had too much to drink and my older brother is not there. She only drinks when he is not there. He is her angel and calm. He reminds her of dad. Dad died in the rogue attack 2 years ago." She says sniffling. "I can feel a fight in you Redna. Why have you not stood up to her?" I ask. "Because I am the reason dad died, I deserve it." She says in despair. "No you don't. Did you directly kill your father?" I ask, trying not to show my irritation. "Well no, but I was. .. "She starts but I interrupt her. "No Redna. No you didnt kill your father. The only way you could have is if you killed him yourself. He was a warrior, correct?" I ask,. "Yes." She answers, "So you have that fight. You have his strength with you Redna. You need to stand up to her." I try to convince her. "You don't understand. I can't do that because she is my mother." She argues. "You can and you will. Or I will and it will not be pretty. You know what. I have been meaning to ask you this but I will require it. I am enrolling you in warrior training. You need to feel comfortable fighting. You are to be going with me if I go anywhere I need to know you can defend yourself." I say making sure she knows there is no room for argument. "But I have other duties." She begins to argue. "I will make sure you don't. You shouldn't be having any other duties besides being my Lady's maid. I am easy. The only thing you ever really do is come in here stock and clean. Which takes all of an hour. You have the rest of the day to yourself. Now I am ensuring you train." I say. "Um.. Okay." Is all she says. I can feel her excitement even though she is not showing it. She grabs her cart and leaves. Now I have to go have a chat with my lovely mate to get her registered. I take my time eating my breakfast and get ready for the day, then head out to the Alarick's office. I knock on the door and Markus answers it. "LeeAca. What are you doing here?" He asks surprised. I walk in to see that Alarick is sitting behind him with a stack of folders in his hand. He look up curiously "LeeAca. What can I do for you?" He asks. I haven't really talked to him since the whole mate thing. There is light conversation at dinner, but even then it isn't directly me and him. "I have a request." I say to try and gauge his mood. I feel his interest. "Go ahead." He says putting down the folders in his hand and looks up to me. "My maid, Redna. I would like for her to be registered for the beginning warrior school." I say. "And why is that? She is a maid, not a warrior." He says matter of factly. "Well, correct me if I am wrong Alpha, but if I were to go somewhere she would go with me." He only nods his head. "If for some reason we are in a situation to fight, I would like to know she can take care of herself." I say. "If this hypothetical situation occurs then you would have warriors with you." He says. "Right. I would have warriors with ME. They would only be worried about me, not my maid." I counter. He leans back in his chair and stares at me. I continue to look at him when Fen chimes in. "I could bash his face in right now." She says. I can tell she is angry, but not at him at the mate bond. It is pulling us to go over to him. I feel the need to run my fingers through his brown hair and stare into his beautiful eyes. At that thought my hands turn into fists. I quickly hide them behind my back. "Fine. But it will not affect her job." He finally says. I nod and thank him before I turn around to leave. In Addicted to You movie, Audrey's biggest regret?
