Deejah's POV It had been three days, since I made dad call on detectives to arrest that man. I didn't even know his name, though the sister had mentioned his name, but I couldn't remember what it was. It was not like I even cared to know actually. I should be happy that I got my revenge in a better way, but no, I couldn't actually pinpoint my exact feeling. I wanted to talk to dad about it. He should let him go, because he had had enough of the suffering. After all, he was arrested to face hard labor and for the past three days, I had been already regretting the action dad took. It wasn't his fault entirely. I should also be blamed for taking the issue too seriously from the beginning. I hated that sister of his more, because had it not been for her, everything would have been okay and that guy wouldn't have slapped me. Weirdly, the more I regretted everything that happened, the more my crush on him kept on increasing. I didn't even know how that was possible. It had really started to get out of hand. I must stop all these. I couldn't let this crush turn into something else. I must start hating that guy. "Arhhhh!!!" I exclaimed and sighed, frustratingly. "I must hate him, I must make sure that crush fades. I must make sure the memory of him turns to ashes." I chanted. I know it would be very hard to hate him, but I must learn that. I already hated his sister and would try my best to hate him too. My maid walked into my room, holding a tray, containing my breakfast . Reedah was the maid that walked in. Surprise at how she ended up becoming my maid, huh?Well we made an agreement when her brother was arrested. She begged me, but all in vain, until she promised to do anything I wanted in order to release her brother from prison. I ended up making a deal with her; if she could be my maid for some days, I promised to release her brother. She wanted to refuse, I saw it in her face, but she had no option than to adhere. After all, how would she be able to get 10,000 naira to bail him out, when they couldn't even afford 3 square meals a day, without hawking on the streets. So she said she could do anything, just to see her brother out of there and now she was in my house, as my personal maid for a few days. It was even easier for her than to pay that money for bailing, not like she even had the money. I looked at her from head to toe, as she dropped the tray on the stand. "Mtchww...." I hissed. "What are you still waiting for? Are you waiting for me to thank you or what?" I asked, hatred boiling in my blood. To my surprise, she didn't move or even attempted to. "Get out of my sight, before I pour this hot tea on you." I threatened, making her to shiver in fear. "Ma'am, I'm sorry to ask, but please, when are you releasing my brother from prison? It has been three days already and I haven't heard anything from him. Please what ever happened, he is sorry. Forgive him for the sake of Allah." She begged and went on her knees, sobbing. Strangely, I didn't feel any compassion towards her. Not even a little bit of remorse towards. In fact, it just irked me greatly. Indisputably, I hated her with all of my being. "Hey! Shut up. I might release him tomorrow. Maybe. Now get out of my room, before I change my mind about it." She stood up and dashed out of the room, but not before thanking me. She seemed innocent, but I just couldn't bring myself to like her. Anytime I saw her, I got reminded of the crush I had for her brother, which seemed weird. They looked so much alike - the fairness, dimples, and several other features. They looked like twins. I snapped out of my thought, when Mina barged into my room, without even knocking and jumped on my bed. "You scared the hell out of me. Honestly Mina when will you learn how to knock? By the way, this is unexpected. I didn't know you were on your way coming. I was just about to call you." "Oh! Someone missed me a lot." Mina squealed. "You wish!" I rolled my eyes. "I did not miss you. By the way, who is deceiving you that I do?" "I asked and we both burst into laughter. "So...Deejah, how far about that street guy? is he still in prison?" she inquired. "Yeah. He is still there, but I'm planning to release him tomorrow. I can't keep punishing them for just one slap and by the way he has had enough lesson there and that girl too has been doing everything in this house. Ever since she came I asked all the maids to stop working for the meantime. Alhamdulillah mom has traveled, otherwise, you know she will be against this and dad comes back late from work everyday, not like he will even care." I shrugged and Mina chuckled, calling me daddy's girl. "Yes oh. So will you accompany me to the prison tomorrow?" "What? Prison for what? To see that guy or what?" she asked, through her teeth. "Mina, it's a question. Are you coming or not?" I asked, because I was already tired of her attitude, especially when it was about that guy. I didn't even know what her reaction would be when I tell her about the crush I had for him "Hey, sorry. I will accompany you, but I hope we ain't staying long, because I want to see someone special later tomorrow." she said, smiling sheepishly. "Okay, no worries. We won't stay long, I promise. I will pick you up by 2pm. Be ready and don't keep me waiting. By the way, who is that special person that is making Mina blush this much?" I asked, teasing her. "Uhm, don't worry, you will get to know him soon. He is my new catch." She winked at me. "I hope this catch stays long, because I know how you play them all and then when you're fed up, you dump them like trash." I said, teasingly and she fumed by the statement. "Hey! Don't go there. this one is for real. You need to see him! Trust me, I love him already." "Huh! Mina how can you just chat with a guy not less than a week and already be in love? Since when has he asked you out? I mean for dating?" I asked, seriously. "It has been three days sha, but don't worry. By the way, Deejah, when is aunty Rukkayah coming back? I miss her a lot walahi." She asked, changing the topic. "Mum will be back in two days. Her flight will take off tomorrow, but it will be in the night, so probably she will arrive here in Abuja a day after tomorrow." "Wow really! I can't wait. So assuming there is no school, you would have followed her to Egypt, right?" She was trying to annoy me back, by teasing me, because she knew how I hated to stay with my mum's relatives. They could be very annoying with their preaching and their cultures. I didn't like them at all. They thought I was a spoiled brat and couldn't do anything by myself. In fact, following mum would be like going as a maid, because they won't let the maid cook for them. I would be the one working all days with all those Nupe cousins.
