Chapter 17 The Mystery Of Life Dana looked down and found that there were lighters, cigarettes, curling sticks, electric irons, and things that were not allowed in the dormitory. She never used any of these so she was wondering why she was being asked. She answered, "No. Those are not mine, sir." "Why is it in your drawer if these are not yours?" "I-" Dana was really a little speechless now. She had not been in the dorm these days. So, how come there were so many troubles that got in her way in only a few days? "No matter what you say, Dana, you are using these illegal things and even have bad habits. The university dorm is going to punish you and expel you out!" After an hour, Dana stood on the road with her suitcase crumbling against the scorching sun. 'Why?' She did not do anything wrong but now she had been expelled from her school. 'There must be something wrong going on here.' Dana suddenly remembered something. The sudden gossip and the inexplicable excess of things in the dormitory; were those all coincidences? She was a little distracted. At this moment, however, a dark shadow flashed before her eyes that she suddenly freaked out. "Man, watch it!" Dana instinctively screamed. There was a gust of wind and when she came back to her senses, she found that her wallet was gone! Her suitcase was gone, too! The girl's mind went blank for two seconds! 'Damn. Did I just meet a thief?' She stood in a daze for a couple of seconds. Then, her instinct was telling her to call the police. However, when she put her hands to get her phone, her phone was gone, too! The girl came back to Progress's apartment with an expressionless face. This was supposed to be a very high-end neighborhood in downtown Progress and it was also very close to Progress University. More importantly, this apartment was in her own name – Dana Roosevelt. She stood in front of the door while a few strands of her hair were hanging down. It was blocking her look and emotion on her face. The girl helpless took the key out of her pocket with her head down. As soon as she opened the door, all the rooms were covered with dustproof covers and it seemed that they were uninhabited all the year-round. Dana brought in the only thing that was left with her and looked at it with some indifference. She did not know how long she stared at it but silently lowered her gaze. Her bank cards, IDs, money, and everything else were all gone. She could only live there now. The girl stood in low spirits for a moment and then began to clean up everything inside the apartment. After the basic things were done, Dana decided to use her last money to buy something to eat in the supermarket. However, as soon as she came down the stairs, there was a luxury car, which was familiar because of its shine. It was already parked at the front door of the apartment building. Dana turned pale as soon as she saw the license plate. She turned around and left but the window came down slowly at this time. "Dana Roosevelt." A voice, which was calm and low, with feminine magnetism, sounded a little harsh when it called her name. After hearing that, the young girl was hammered and stopped in the middle of her step because of those two words. The tinted window car rolled down. At this time, the sky had begun to get dark. A middle-aged woman was under the bluish-gray background. She was about forty or fifty years old and her smile that was seen in the window was particularly cold. "Why, is that how you treat when you see your elders?" Dana bit her lip. "Mrs. Roosevelt." She turned around and looked at her. Mrs. Roosevelt, Dana's father's wife, was being called by her as "Mrs. Roosevelt." Basically, because she was not her biological mother. When Ann heard her called her, she smiled with a cold sarcasm on her face. "What's the matter? Is the dormitory not good or have you decided to go back to the house your father bought for you? Don't you have a lot of backbone when you first say that you don't want anything when you leave home? Have you turned the tables now?" The girl already had a pale face but now she had no color at all. She was flushed by her remark. Her lips were bitten in a straight line and her body was tightened. Dana tried to stay calm. "I just came back to sleep for one night and leave tomorrow." "Oh, is that it?" Ann sneered and flushed her lips. "It seems to be in trouble-" "Benedict, take some money from the trunk and give it to her." Ann looked at her with a smile. "Why do you have a Roosevelt surname? If this gets out, it can't look too shabby, isn't it?"
