---- Book 1 Chapter 29 They left, and I headed inside. Maya was fast asleep on the couch, and I curled up beside her. It wasnt even dark out, but the day had taken a toll on me. I also couldn't figure out the strange feelings I had been having; they literally came out of nowhere. Yawning, I fell asleep only to wake in the middle of the night. Great, now I was wide awake. I should never have had a nap. Getting up, I popped my head into my sisters room. She was still passed out, my mother reading next to her using the lamp to see. She looked up, and I gave her a nod as she grabbed her coffee. No doubt she wouldn't sleep; instead, she would wait till she woke and try and convince her to go back to rehab. Grabbing my phone, I tried Sam again but got no answer. Frustrated, I tossed my phone before picking it up. He couldn't ignore me if I just showed up at his house. Grabbing a jumper, I walked back into my sister's room. Lam just going to go out for an hour. Do you need anything? I whispered, and mom shook her. Make sure you lock the door, she whispered back. Walking downstairs, I decided to put Maya in her bed before leaving. Scooping her up off the lounge, I 6/7 ---- Book 1 Chapter 29 saw her macaroni bowl and picked it up, too. The news suddenly flicked on. A news reporter was reporting from a street that looked remarkably familiar. I turned the volume up, listening. We are live on the scene, where a meth lab has exploded, and nine people have died in a residential area. Firefighters did everything to put out the flames and stop the risk to neighboring houses, but unfortunately, they were too late to save the occupants. Investigations are underway to identify the victims. Police have said the house was known to them and helping with the identification process. I was about to flick the TV off when it flicked to the picture of the house, and I gasped. Shock hit me when I realized it was Ethans house, the very same house Id pulled my sister from earlier in the day. 7/7 ---- Book 1 Chapter 30 Book 1 Chapter 30 Chapter 30 I walked Maya to her room in complete and utter shock at what I had just seen. Placing her in her bed, I tucked the blanket around her before closing her door. Grabbing my keys, I headed for my car, bracing myself for the pungent smell I thought would be inside. But when I opened it, all I could smell was the air-freshener tree hanging from my murror and the smell of the cleaning products. No foul odor at all like I had expected. Putting my car in reverse, I pulled out of the driveway heading to Sam's, hoping to get some answers about why the hell he'd bitten me and why I could hardly remember anything from that night. Pulling up at Sams, I saw his motorbike in the driveway, and I knew he was home. Walking up the front porch of the A-frame house, I knocked on the green door. I heard movement inside as someone walked over to answer the door. It opened to reveal his mother in a pink dressing gown and bunny 1/7 ---- Book 1 Chapter 30 slippers on her feet, her face lighting up when she saw me standing there. Adeline, what a lovely surprise, she said, opening the door wider and allowing me to enter. Who is it, ma? I heard Sams voice call out from the loungeroom out the back of the house. Its your friend Adeline, dear, she called back to him. I heard the shuffling before seeing him walk down the hall toward me. His mothers name was Mary; she was lovely and had blonde hair that was almost white and kind blue eyes as she stared at me. How have you been, dear? she asked before Sam stepped out. He nodded toward the stairs. Another time, mom. I need to talk to Adeline, he said, grabbing my hand and tugging me up the stairs, the floorboards creaking as he pulled me toward his room. The moment we stepped inside, his lips were on me, and I found myself pushed against the wall, his lips devouring mine. He started trying to pull my jumper off over my head. Sam, wait. Thats not why I am here, I tried to tell him while he kept trying to undress me. He started 2/7 Discover our latest featured short drama reel. Watch now and enjoy the story!
