---- Book 1 Chapter 26 Book 1 Chapter 26 Chapter 26 Adeline Paisley POV Waking up, I had a sense of déja-vu again, like I was missing something. I tried to remember the last thing I could, but the details were fuzzy. I remembered meeting Sam. We had dinner, then we went back to his place and had a few drinks. Though the memory was there, it didnt feel right. I certainly didnt feel like I'd had sex. I also didnt remember driving home, though I did remember seeing my front door. Did Sam bring me home? I sat up, pain radiating through my neck. As I stretched and touched the skin, it felt bumping and raised and stung to touch. I looked at my clock, and it said it was 9AM. I got up, heading for the bathroom. I quickly peed before washing my hands, wetting my face, and looking in the mirror. I gasped at what I saw. I had a huge round mark on my neck. I rubbed it, and it stung, trying to wash it off. What the fuck? Like, Sam is into some kinky shit, but that? What the fuck! I raced back to my room, 1/6 ---- Book 1 Chapter 26 Adeline, are you home? my mother called out. Yes, mom, I called back, grabbing my phone and dialing Sam's number. It didnt even ring just said his phone had been disconnected. What the fuck? He bites me, then changes his number? I am going to fucking kill him. My mother walked into my room, and I turned to face her as she brought in some laundry from the dryer. How was your night? Oh my fucking god, what happened to your neck! she squealed, rushing over and tugging my top away. Sam bit you? I dont remember. I remember meeting him. I sure as hell dont remember him becoming a cannibal and taking a fucking bite, I told her, looking in the mirror. You need to let me clean that before it gets infected, honey. Why would you let him do that with so many bacteria in the mouth? she said, her nurse side taking over as she examined it. T didnt, mom, and dont you worry. I will be giving him a piece of my mind when I see him again, I told her, and she nodded. 2/6 ---- Book 1 Chapter 26 Dropping the washing basket of folded clothes on the end of my bed, she said, I will fetch the first-aid kit. Meet me in the kitchen. I groaned. How the hell was I going to hide that for work? I pulled off my wrinkled clothes and put on some yoga pants and a singlet. I tried Sam's phone again, but it kept coming up that it had been disconnected. Walking downstairs, I sat on the stool. My mother came over, dabbing the mark with some Dettol, and I hissed as it burned. I'm sorry. Gosh, its deep for a bite mark, she muttered, shaking her head before covering it with some non-stick gauze. Really, Addie, this is just strange for him to do. Has he bitten you like this before? she asked, and I shook my head. Sam was into some weird things, but biting wasnt one of them. He was more the pull- your-hair-and-strangle-you type, not fucking devour you literally. T think maybe, you might need to look elsewhere. This isnt right, my mother said, and I had to agree with her. Yet I just didnt remember anything, and that was bothering me more. Because of the huge-ass bite mark, I ended up staying home all weekend, 3/6 ---- Book 1 Chapter 26 praying it would heal before Monday. We lazed around the house watching movies. Maya was still sick with the flu, though my mother was feeling much better thanks to the cold and flu tablets shed brought. Monday morning, though, when I hauled my ass out of bed, I was relieved to find the mark nearly gone. Still, I could tell it was going to scar. Great, just what I needed. I pulled on my black slacks, button-up shirt, and blazer, choosing to leave my hair down to cover the horrendous mark on my neck that stood out like a sore thumb. I dropped Maya off on my way to work before pulling up in the top car park and catching the lift up to my floor. I tried ringing Sam off the work phone, thinking maybe it might just be my phone. The phone disconnected, which I thought was a little odd. I would just have to go see him one night after work and demand to know what happened. The fact that he had changed his number was a little worrying. Did I do something wrong? Hello, Addie, Cyrus said, creeping up behind me. I was so consumed with my troubled thoughts that I didnt hear the elevator signaling their arrival. I spun around and faced him.
