Chapter 10 I’m a Monster He appeared in front of my eyes as I was crying in the rain. My lips curved into a relieved smile as I raised my head to look at him. He was staring at me unblinkingly, his eyes unreadable. "I knew you were still around." I murmured with a contented smile on my face, and he rolled his eyes, irked. He ignored my words and swiftly lifted me in his arms after bending down. I just forgot everything like always as I came into his strong arms. I placed my head on his chest and enjoyed the calming sound of his heartbeat. His heart was beating exactly like humans. When I came into contact with his cold body, my entire body burned. He had a profound effect on me, both physically and mentally, that I couldn't put into words. He took me directly to my room through the window. "How does he know about my room? Maybe he was there that night when I saw his reflection in the mirror and felt his presence in my room." I wondered, staring at him bemusedly, trying to read his eyes, but they were utterly unreadable today. "That night, it wasn't my imagination, you were here, inside my room?" I asked to confirm as he made me stand on the floor without looking at me. "Mia, you should be afraid of me. Why aren't you afraid of me?" He leaned in and snapped at me, his eyes and lips turning blood red and his canine teeth enlarging. Our faces were just a few inches apart, and he was shooting me with deadly glares in an attempt to scare me. I placed my hand on his cheek and softly whispered, "I know you'll never hurt me. So why should I be frightened of you?" When my hand touched his face, he returned to normal. He was icy. I stroked his dark stubble with my thumb as I gazed at him, my eyes filled with immense love. Suddenly, his brows knitted, and he grasped my hand, killing me with his looks. Then he bit my arm by holding my hand with both of his hands, and I hissed in pain. ‘What the hell? I didn’t expect this. Will he kill me? No, no, he is just doing this to scare me, I’m sure.’ I reassured myself. To deal with the pain, I squeezed my eyes shut and pursed my lips as he sucked the blood. I was in excruciating pain, but I knew he was doing it just to scare me, so I didn't scream and instead let him do what he was doing. "Ahhaaa…” He growled in frustration and let go of my hand after only a few seconds. Perhaps he was angry as I wasn't afraid of him. He wiped off the blood from the corner of his mouth with the back of his hand while dangerously glaring at me. ‘So I was right, he bit me just to scare me.’ Despite the fact that I was in pain, a small smile touched my lips. "Why did you stop? Why didn't you kill me?" As I asked, he averted his eyes. I moved closer to his face as he drifted his furious eyes towards me. "I have no doubt that you are concealing something really significant that prevents you from confessing your feelings for me and from expressing your pain.” I stated with sheer confidence. His expression remained unchanged, and he continued to give me deadly glares. "Jonathan, please, speak up. I love you, and I want to know everything about you. I want to know what the thing is stopping you, please." I yelled, cupping his face and trying to persuade him to spit out the truth while he just stared at me in rage. He wasn’t ready to spit out the truth. He abruptly vanished in the blink of my eyes. I dashed to the window, assuming he had fled through it. "You can't go like this, Jonathan. I need my answers, Jonathan; I love you. Please, come back.” I screamed, looking out the window, my desperate eyes searching the empty road for him. It was still raining, but not as heavily as it had been. "He left. Again." I murmured in a doleful tone, and a fresh tear trickled down my cheek. I had no clue why he was doing this to me. As I turned around, my eyes dilated in surprise because he was standing in front of my eyes. I noticed the first-aid kit he was holding. He took my hand in his and led me to the bed. He made me sit there by holding my arms. He sat silently beside me and opened the box. He extracted ointment and cotton. He smeared the ointment on the cotton pad. I flinched in pain, clenched my hands, and squeezed my eyes as he applied the ointment to my wound after gently placing my hand on his lap. I opened my eyes and looked at him; he was treating my wound with affection. ‘On the one hand, he says he'll kill me because he's a monster, and on the other, he's protecting me and applying ointment to my wound. What exactly is he? I know he's a vampire, but he's still keeping so many secrets from me. I desperately want to know everything about him' I pondered, my intense gaze fixed on him. “Why are you doing this, Jonathan? Why are you not accepting that you have feelings for me? What is stopping you?" I asked in a calm tone when he was rolling the gauze bandage around my wounded arm. He shot daggers at me and shrieked, "because I'm a Monster." I flinched. He stood up, and as he turned to leave, I immediately stopped him by grasping his arm. He glared at me over his shoulder. "Will you come to college tomorrow?" As I asked, he turned to me. "Go sleep, it's already late." He ordered me in a stern tone and shoved my hand. He left through the window, and I changed myself into nightwear and lay down in the quilt. I kept staring at the ceiling, wondering about him. ‘The biggest shock to me is that he is a vampire, but I know there is something else keeping him from telling me how he feels besides being a vampire.’ I closed my eyes and tried to sleep. “Fuck!” I sat up, cursing as something popped into my mind. “If he is a vampire, it means he kissed me on the ground that day, and he was also present in the mall. I wasn't imagining him. God, and I thought I was going insane. How could he play with my mind like this?” I talked to myself before lying down and pulling the comforter on me. I fell fast asleep because it was a very long day for me, and I was exhausted.
