The battle lasted for more than ten minutes, with the remaining goblins finally being eliminated. Constantly firing Magic Missiles had left Du You’s magic power almost depleted, and he guessed the opposition was not faring any better. Though he was at level 1, he got a boost from having two professions. Plus, being a 10-star existence, his magic power was no less than theirs. As magic power was not quantified, it was troublesome to calculate. He could only depend on his instincts to know how much magic power he had left. He really had no idea why magic power wasn’t quantified. Now, he didn’t have time to ponder over it. He had to deal with the Goblin Shaman at hand. After dispatching the normal goblins, Du You completely focused his attention on the shaman. The fear on the face of the Goblin Shaman was evident, but it was clearly too late for him to escape. Indeed, the thought of a goblin running away was quite surprising. In midair, Xiaozi dove straight down, taking advantage of the Goblin Shaman’s fear, and left a scratch mark on him. The Goblin Shaman instinctively pointed his flag at the sky and a Magic Missile was instantly discharged. But the Purple Lightning Eagle, Xiaozi, had already flown away, and was unscathed, leaving the Magic Missile to hit the nothingness. With the Shaman’s Magic Missile failing to reach its target, Du You’s Magic Missile took its place. Now there was nothing to stop it from reaching its target. The Shaman, already slower than the other warriors, was directly hit by the Magic Missile in his leg. The crisp sound of a bone breaking was quite clear. Du You knew that the leg of the Goblin Shaman was now broken. With the force of the Magic Missile, the leg of the Goblin Shaman was twisted into a weird shape. His physique was nowhere near as robust as the bear’s. He immediately fell to the ground, howling in pain. His howling, however, failed to last long. As the bear rushed up, angrily hitting down on the shaman with his two massive paws. With a loud thump, a large pit formed on the ground. The body of the Goblin Shaman was nothing more than a bunch of squashed flesh. "Really, killing a beast need not be so gory," said Du You, panting and scowling. The bear’s fierce look disappeared instantly, replaced by a sheepish expression directed at Du You. "Alright, alright, let me tend to your wounds," Du You said, and reluctantly walked over. The bear had been acting as his shield from the start, and had numerous injuries as a result. Several arrows were still lodged in his body, with the most serious one being the one from the elite archer, the entire arrowhead had penetrated deep into the body. There were also multiple slash wounds on his body. Du You knew that these goblins couldn’t have inflicted such deep wounds without the enhancement skill of the shaman. Du You pulled the arrows out of the bear one by one, not yet tending to the wounds. The wounds sealed naturally. The bear might be a magical beast, but it essentially was a summoned creature and not a normal animal. With the aid of summoning power, the bleeding quickly stopped on its own and started to heal slowly. "Go rest over there," Du You gestured, and the bear walked over to lie down on his own. Xiaozi descended from the sky and perched on a rock, neatly preening its feathers. The rhythm of the battle was fast. Relying on its speed, Xiaozi miraculously remained unscathed. "Now it’s time for the loot," Du You stepped forward and began collecting the white light balls. Though he referred to it as a lottery, it had little to do with luck. After all, this wasn’t a game. The quality of the light balls remained the same. Although the items obtained could vary, their overall value wouldn’t change too drastically. Crushing one light ball after another, Du You wouldn’t stop making faces, for most of them produced white crystal coins without any other equipment. It seemed that gaining equipment in the Derived World wasn’t as easy as expected since the drop rate was too low. "I wonder what’s in the last one. Will there be any equipment?" Du You gazed at the last light ball. It was dropped by the Goblin Shaman and he had decided to save the best for last. Official source ıs 𝗻𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗹·𝑓𝑖𝑟𝑒·𝗇𝗲𝘁 Du You drew a deep breath, opened up the light ball, and ended up with more white crystal coins as usual. But then something different emerged from inside: a white object that looked like a bottle. Wait, it wasn’t a bottle. Du You suddenly realised that it was a scroll. Yes, a scroll. Magic Missile: A basic, universal magic-class skill. Low attack, low consumption (fixed at level 1), does not occupy a skill slot. "It’s a skill scroll! But how is this possible? Why would it be a Magic Missile?" Du You was left utterly confused staring at the skill scroll in his hand. These skill books were very rare, even more so than equipment. A good skill was invaluable. But what was this basic universal skill? Du You quickly racked his brain. It seemed that the books mentioned that universal skills could be learned by any player, regardless of their profession, without any differences. Moreover, the skill maintained a constant damage output, uninfluenced by profession. So what was the use of such a skill? It was of no use to him; it was redundant. "Wait, this skill might actually fetch a good price," Du You’s eyes lit up. He just realised that having a range skill would be a great advantage for a warrior in the initial stages. Since everyone hadn’t advanced in professions, causing a shortage of skills, handling various situations became difficult. If warriors were to learn a range skill that wasn’t suited for them, not many would be willing to pay the price. However, these universal skills, which didn’t occupy a skill slot, were entirely different. This was just the thing crafted for them, providing life-long benefits in return for a one-time investment. Hence, although Du You wasn’t clear about its exact worth, it should fetch a reasonable price. On this realization, Du You joyfully placed the scroll at the bottom of his bag to sell it at an opportune moment when he returned. Or, he could check if there were other universal skills that suited him and then exchange it. Apart from the scroll, there were only white crystal coins left. As Du You already had a considerable number of them, he didn’t feel much excitement collecting more. He casually stashed them away. "Let’s begin to recover. Xiaozi, continue the surveillance. I want to see if they continue to send troops our way." Du You sat down. As he didn’t have any recovery items, he had to rely on his inherent recovery ability. The bear was already in deep sleep. In this state, the recovery speed of summoned creatures is much faster.
