"Why don't you just marry him?" Maeve wanted to throw her laptop towards Hillary who was comfortably lying on the couch of her office. "Why are you here again?" She asked in an irritated voice, but her sister just laughed at her. "I just ran away from the date Mom had set up," she answered with a groan. "Why?" Maeve asked as she took her eyes off her sister and went back to checking the financial flows of the company on her laptop. Hillary's eyes widened as if an idea struck her. She immediately got up from the couch and ran off to her sister's table. "Maeve!" Confused with the change of tone, Maeve looked up once again to look at her sister. "Hmm?" "My mom's getting crazy too! She set me up with a guy almost ten years older than me!" Hillary whined like a kid while she held onto her older sister's arm. "What?" Maeve's forehead creased in irritation after hearing her sister's words. Just what was happening?! Why would Aria sent her daughter to someone... like that? "I'm afraid she'll marry me off to some dirty-old man soon!" Hillary's problematic face resurface which caused Maeve's expression to change. "Uh-huh?" Maeve's left brow rose up as she stares suspiciously at her sister. Hillary was seen by everyone as a sweet and meek girl. But her sister was far from that description. She was actually a vicious, independent, and outspoken woman. Sadly, she wasn't able to say things in front of her parents. "Yes! So, maybe I should leave my unit first and just clash into your place for the meantime?" Hillary had those hopeful eyes look up to her sister. Hillary had always admired Maeve ever since she was young. While her mom asked her not to interact with this sister of hers, she secretly stalks her idol, completely neglecting her mother's orders for the first time. Maeve stared at her sister for a while before she shook her head in a mocking way as a playful smirk appeared on her face. Hillary immediately frowned after seeing her sister's expression. "Nice try cupcake," Maeve said before she went back to her work, her smirk remains on her face. Hillary was left with no choice but to grudgingly went back to that cold leather couch, acting hurt from her sister's rejection. She really wanted to live with her since she can remember, but her sister had been refusing ever since for who knows what reasons. Maeve was then bothered by her sister's silence, she took a deep breath, closed her laptop, and took her coat from her chair. "Come on, let's eat out." Hillary's somber face immediately brightened as she heard her sister. She immediately stood up, flattened the slight creases on her baby pink dress before she immediately grabbed her bag on the table and followed her sister. "Can I just have your food? Let's not dine out, let's just head home and you cook. How 'bout that--" Hillary's words were halted into a stop as she saw her sister stopped in front of the elevator too. "What are you doing here?" Maeve asked coldly as she stared at September who just step out of the elevator. September gave her a soft smile before his eyes landed on the woman behind Maeve. Falcon immediately leaned a little towards him to inform him who that lady was. Maeve who was watching can't help but smirk with the action. September's eyes immediately glimmered as he stared coldly at Hillary. Hearing that this woman is the daughter of the guy who's willing to sell off her woman just to stay in the city riles him up. Hillary felt the hair behind her nape stood up. She felt more and more uncomfortable the longer Mr. Thorne stare at her. She unconsciously took a step closer to Maeve's back and held on to her sister's coat like a kid hiding behind her mom. Maeve slightly glanced at her scared sister before she licked her bottom lip in irritation. "September," she called out which caught September's attention. He immediately tried to hide the threatening smile on his face after hearing his name left her lips. His left brow rose in a questioning manner. They exchange challenging stares for a while before September's lips curved into a smile. He immediately looks away and put his hands in his pockets. Hillary's jaw almost dropped as she watched the unbelievable shift in the composition of the great manipulator. He was a scary man earlier! How can... how can he look like a shy angel as he tried to hide that smile?! As amusement filled Hillary's face, Falcon is watching her and was struggling to stop himself from chuckling. He wanted to say that what she just saw was something that only Mr. Thorne can do. "Why are you here? Again?" Maeve inquired once again as her patience for this guy almost reach its limit. September looked back at her with the same soft smile she usually sees everytime they're together. "Let's go grab something to eat?" he asked that in a casual voice that anyone who doesn't know about the real deal between them would think that they are usually dining out together. "I'm busy," Maeve dismissively said as she gestured Hillary to get inside the elevator. Her sister immediately heeded her silent order. She was about to get inside the lift too but September just had to test the limit of her patience as he held her on her wrist. She immediately swayed her arm in an attempt to free her wrist from his hold but to no avail, she had to face the smirking Mr. Thorne. "I have an appointment with my sister, Mr. Thorne." September frowned upon hearing the way she addressed him. Hearing his name was far more intimate than his last name. "What happened with September? Why are we back with Mr. Thorne now?" "Just because," "Just because?" he repeated. Maeve had long realized that forceful manner wouldn't stop this guy's advances towards her, so she immediately changed the cold expression on her face into a playful one. She raised her hand and softly played with September's black necktie. September's eyes immediately followed her movement, much to Hillary's amusement. "So, you like hearing me call you out your name?" she asked in a soft voice that only he can hear. "Hmm," he hummed in agreement. "Really, huh?" she asked as she caught his eyes. He nodded as he was busy staring at her sparkling green eyes. "Too bad, I'm not fond of calling you in any way," she said as coldness immediately crept into her face. September was taken aback by this sudden change that he wasn't able to react that fast not until he saw the elevator's door halfway close with Maeve waving her hand with a mocking smile plastered on her face. He turned his face towards his butler who was also startled. "What the fuck did she just do?" he asked to no one in particular. "She... did she just put you in a trance sir?" Falcon blurted out which earned a sharp glare from his boss.
