I walked around the mansion making sure I stayed as far way from Seth as I can. To be seen with him would be too dangerous for my case and I wasn't going to let a stupid one-night stand with an ex-high school mate ruin my career. Even if it wasn't dangerous to my career, I still wouldn't want to be seen with him, especially after the way he acted. Walking over to a waiter, I took up one of the drinks off the stray. Since I wasn't driving back home, I could drink as much as I wanted and I wasn't going to court anytime soon. I walked over to the window and looked out at the back lawn. There was a big pool in the enter surrounded by grass. Along the grass were a few pool chairs. No one was in the pool but there were a few persons out there talking. Feeling a tap on my shoulder I turn around. "Still biting your nails, I see." He looked at my hands around the glass. Raising my brows annoyed but I reminded silent. "So, I guess you came here with Iris and Brandon as usual." I rolled my eyes at him and looked back out the window. "How have you been?" Turning around and glare at him. "Richard, I don't wanna talk to you. I'm not interested in how you are. I'm not interested in how much profit you made today so basically what I'm trying to say is that I'm not interested in you." I shake my head at myself. I can't believe I actually spelt with the guy. Thinking back on our relationship now made me see how much of a self-centred, money-worshipping, finger fetish jerk he was and this is. Brandon pulled up and turn to look at me, "Is he bothering you?" Richard lifts his hands in surrender, "Man, I wasn't trying to do anything to her." Richard was afraid of Brandon, how wouldn't be, the man was tall and full of muscles. He is a real hunk. "You opened your mouth so yes you bothered me." I look over at Brandon, "Thanks but I can handle this asshole myself." Brandon nods, "As long as your okay." Then he leaves. "He's always playing bodyguard." "Yeah, and you always playing the dick." I hissed. He laughs and shakes his head, "So, who's the new guy." I raised my brows at him not quite understanding what he was trying to say. "The dirty blond, he has been looking at you all night." Brandon turns his head to look across the room then back at me. "See, he's still looking." I turn my head in the direction that he had turned his in. Seth was at the end of the room around some men talking. We made eye contact for a second until he turned his head back. I rolled my eyes and turn back my head to look at Richard. "He's a prosecutor for my client, just the enemy." Richard shakes his head, "Yeah, he might just be the enemy to you but trust me you're not his enemy." "Believe me, I am." I had made myself his enemy when I denied him. "No man looks at his enemy like he's looking at you." Richard looks down at my dress then back at me, "Either you're his lover or he wants you to be his lover." "I'm nobody's lover." I voiced. Richard shakes his head, "It's nice talking to an old friend. Good to see you." he turns to leave but turn back, "Don't let the poor guy wait too long." Ignoring his statement, I brought my drink to my lips. I couldn't tell exactly what I was drinking but I knew it was something strong. I drank down some more because I could not understand why Seth is ignoring me yet is staring at me across the hall. I walked away from the window and start walking towards the back door. The further away I got from his piercing green eyes, the better I'll feel. I stood at the edge of the pool looking in the water which was changing colour every few seconds. It looked beautiful, the night was beautiful yet here I am at the edge of someone millionaire's pool trying to avoid Seth Parker. "See that I'm not alone." A disembodied male voice says from behind me, making me jump a bit. "Sorry, didn't mean to scare you. May I stand with you? I don't really know anyone here." I turn my head to see bright blue eyes staring back at me. I looked at him silently then nod my head, "Sure." "I'm Micheal." He walked up closer on the edge and was now standing beside me. "Karishma." I might as well tell him my name too. He looked decent, he didn't have the flirty look about him and that was good. "So why are you out here all by yourself?" he asked. "I came with some friends who are business people. I'm not into business." I looked over at him, "Why are you here?" "My husband." I could feel my eyes widen involuntarily. I didn't except that. "He's a business partner of the party keeper." "Ah, and you're not from the business world I guess." I turn back my eyes to the water. I didn't want to stare at him too much. He was the first gay openly gay person I've ever spoken to. Something in me wanted to question him. "Right, I'm a fashion designer." I looked over at him and smile. "Really?" Since he was wearing a suit I didn't get the fashion designer look from him. He smiles at me, "Yes and that's how I noticed you. You're wearing one of my dress." My head went down to look at my blue off-the-shoulder dress. "No way!" I place my hands on my dress then look up back at him. "I bought this dress a month away, I didn't even look at the designer because as soon as I saw it, I wanted it." He chuckles, "I'm glad you appreciate my design." "It's a lovely dress. I bought two of them, I have a black one in my closet right now." I looked down back at the dress. It was a cocktail, off-the-shoulders with a long back and a short front. He chuckles, "I think I just met my biggest fan." I nod, "If I wasn't your biggest fan then I'm definitely now." He starts laughing, "Thank you. It's not every day I meet a person like you." I turned and look at him. He was really handsome, I wouldn't believe he was gay if he didn't tell me himself. "What do you mean?" "Well I'm gay, persons normally just shun me and give me bad looks." He tones lowered which showed that talking about this required a lot of strength. "I'm not the person to judge anyone based on how they live their lifestyles. I've met so many criminals who've gotten away with murder someone of them I help to get away with murder." I laugh a little to lighten the mood, "What I'm tryna say if they are persons doing terrible things around the world and they're getting away with it and they're persons like you who just don't like the opposite sex. I think you guys should be able to live your life without fear." "Thank you." he smiled at me. "So, wait, are you saying the people here at this party are giving you bad looks?" He nods "Yea, some of them. The others are trying their best to ask nicely." He laughs. "Don't worry, I'm used to it. They're not giving me bad looks because I'm gay they're giving me bad looks because I turn my husband gay." My eyebrows raised. "Wow. You're the first gay guy I've ever spoken to you and now I know why It's so hard for me to find a good man." I hit him playfully on the arm. He laughs, "It's not my fault I'm handsome." I laugh, "Wow, handsome and conceited." I look up at the sky. "How does your family feel?" "My father stopped talking to me, I knew he would. My mother, she is still trying to get me a girlfriend." He laughs but I could hear the sadness behind his voice. "Enough of sad talking. What do you do for a living?" I laugh and shake my head, "I'm a Lawyer." "Yea, you have that kinda persona about you?" I chuckle, "What kind of persona do I have?" "The cool chick persona. I don't want a broke man persona." I laugh at his words. "What?" I did not act like that. "I can also see that you, my dear friend is afraid to love. Maybe someone broke your heart, maybe your parents got divorced or maybe you just think that all men are assholes." His blue eyes sparkle as he smiled. "Definitely the last one. My parents are still very much in love. Never got my heart broken since I've never actually been in love but am I, afraid love?" I rub my hand on my chin. "I don't think I'm afraid to love, I'm just afraid to get hurt." "So, you play it cool." Nodding, I agree, "So, I play it cool." "So, you're playing it cool with that blondie?" I looked over at him and smile. "What blondie?" He looked up at the sky and sigh, "You know the blond who has not taken his eyes off you since you came out here." Oh, dear god! I sigh, "I'm not playing it cool with him. I'm not playing with him at all." I can't believe Seth was still staring at me. What the hell is his problem? "Do you guys have some history?" History is exactly what we have. I nod, "Yeah. We had sex one and a half time." He raised his brows, "Half?" I nod, "Half. We were teens making out, it never got anywhere. But last week we went full on." "Oh, I see. So, he wants you back, but you don't want him back." It wasn't a statement of wanting him back because I did want him back in my bed or his bed, whichever bed but he was the enemy and will always be. "I wish it were that easy. He's the prosecutor of my client so he's the enemy." This was the second time today I have to be explaining my relationship with Seth to someone and it was getting boring on me. "I see, but you should remember this statement, "Keep your friends close, your enemies closer." he winks then He bent his head and lift his hand to check the time. "It was a pleasure meeting you Kari and I wish you all the best on your case. Keep buying my dresses." He turned, and he walked away. I didn't let my eyes go after him, I looked up at the sky. "It's a beautiful night isn't it." I didn't have to turn around to know whose voice it was. That voice had annoyed me so many times and that voice had groaned my names so many times while we had sex.
