Chapter 8 " Tell me , where is Phantom ? " Aria's voice grew firm , her nails digging deep into her palms . Crystal let out a snort and suddenly started singing mockingly , " I'm not telling you ~ No , I'm not telling you ! " Smack ! Hannah , already furious , slammed the door shut with a loud bang , marched up to the bed , and slapped Crystal across the face . " You spoiled little snake ," she growled . " Hannah had always been bold - a fiery tomboy and the infamous school bully back in the day . A cold , commanding voice rang out : " What the hell are you doing in here ? " Mason had arrived . Crystal instantly changed her tone , yowling like a cat : " Brother ... they bullied me while you were gone ! Hannah slapped me ! " Mason's face darkened as he took in the bright red handprint on Crystal's cheek . He immediately stepped in front of her protectively . Aria looked up , voice steady : " She had someone abuse my horse . Hannah slapped her and she was right to . " " Right to hit her ? " Mason stepped forward and seized Aria's wrist , gripping so tightly it felt like he was about to crush her bones . " That beast broke two of Crystal's ribs ! So what if she took it out on it ? Aria , when did you become so unreasonable ? " His harsh words and sharp gaze stabbed into Aria's heart like a blade . She was so furious she couldn't even form a reply . " How dare you say something like that ? " Hannah couldn't hear it anymore . " Do you even realize what Aria just went through for you- ? " Mason cut her off with a cold laugh . " You mean the so - called miscarriage ? You think I believe such a ridiculous lie ? " Aria's eyes widened in shock . Her body swayed , and she nearly collapsed , but Hannah caught her just in time . " Hannah , stop ! Don't do something stupid ! " Hannah looked down at her with teary eyes . " I just can't stand it , you know ? You gave up everything for this bastard . Your future , your passion . And now he's still defending his sister , still treating you like you mean nothing . What do you even love about him ? " Mason blinked , momentarily stunned . Was it true ? Had he really been so focused on his sister that he neglected Aria's feelings all along ? He always told himself that his concern for Crystal was just sibling affection. Aria was the one he planned to spend his life with . That's why he kept asking her to compromise - if she could just stop fighting his sister , everyone could be happy . " Brother , look out ! " Just as Mason fell into a daze , Crystal suddenly screamed and lunged forward . She reached out , grabbing the blade with her bare hand . Hannah was caught off guard . She tried to pull the knife back , but in the next moment , she felt it being yanked the opposite direction .
